Incense Sales Representative (hybrid basis)

A candidate will start in June 2025

As a recruitment partner for René Schönefeld, we are seeking an Incense Sales Representative to sell incense oil, distilled from incense grains to the fragrance and cosmetics industries. These products are highly sought after in these sectors, provided they are sourced sustainably and safely.

René Schönefeld produces high-quality incense blends and natural resins, distributed in over 90 countries worldwide. The raw materials for these products are sourced from Africa and Asia.

We are looking for an independent, experienced employee with expertise in, or knowledge of, raw material procurement from Asia and Africa. The candidate must be able to translate the different uses of incense oil to meet the specific needs of the fragrance and cosmetics industries. It is essential that they understand the story behind the products, effectively convey it, and engage with potential customers with passion, energy, and enthusiasm.

René Schönefeld has an extensive network in the raw materials industry, which needs to be leveraged to maximize opportunities for frankincense oil. Additionally, new sustainability projects should be initiated to drive growth and innovation.

Job Description:

  • The Incense Sales Representative promotes and supports the sales of frankincense and its derivatives to customers and distributors by developing and executing sales strategies and building strong customer relationships.
  • The representative must have knowledge of the global natural raw materials market and experience in connecting origin and sustainability issues with end products.
    Sales focus primarily on the cosmetics and fragrance industries, where market expertise is critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with distributors and customers.
  • Expand the existing customer base.
  • Attend and participate in trade fairs.
  • Provide market and sales analyses and monitor trends and developments.
  • Report to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
  • Develop new sales strategies with the CCO.
  • Collaborate with the CCO to explore new markets and applications.
  • Identify new market potentials.
  • Assist the CCO in preparing and managing marketing and sales budgets.
  • Maintain customer communications.
  • Support marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Technical Marketing Manager.
  • Set sales prices in coordination with the CCO.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry or a related field (or significant relevant experience in the chemical industry).
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, GMP, and ISO9001.
  • Proficient in English (knowledge of German, French, or other languages is a plus).

Required Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in a similar position.
  • Expertise in sustainable and safe sourcing of raw materials in Africa and Asia.
  • Relevant experience in the fragrance industry.
  • Proven experience with raw materials and fragrance formulation for the fragrance industry.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with working in a family business.
  • Sales experience in an international market.
  • Experience in product management, marketing, sales, costing, and purchasing.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage.

Additional Information:

This position can be performed on a hybrid basis. Regular physical presence in Bladel is required. Travel and customer visits will be frequent and subject to further discussion.
The COO will oversee the onboarding process, including introductions to existing customers and partners. René Schönefeld is located in Bladel, Netherlands, south of Eindhoven, about a 1.5-hour drive from Schiphol.

Salary and working conditions:
This is NOT a freelance position, there is a long-term focus. Base salary will be 55K gross based on fulltime employment. René Schönefeld offers attractive on target bonus earnings.
